Zambia Devolution Support Program, a World Bank-funded initiative to strengthen local government in Zambia. The Zambian program provides grants, financial management support, and capacity building to local authorities to improve service delivery. 
Zambia Devolution Support Program (ZDSP):
  • What it is: A government-led initiative launched in 2023 with over $210 million in funding from the World Bank.
  • Its goal: To accelerate Zambia’s decentralization by strengthening the capacity, accountability, and service delivery of local authorities.
  • How it works:
  1. Provides capital and performance-based grants to eligible local councils.
  2. Supports digital revenue systems to improve financial management.
  3. Builds capacity through technical assistance and training for local staff.
  4. Transfers key functions from central government to local councils.
